IFBC19 Kicks Off With Food Tours, Helicopters, and Glaciers

June 20, 2019 by Allan

The 2019 International Food Blogger Conference kicked off today in Juneau with four pre-conference excursions: two tours courtesy of Juneau Food Tours, a brew tour at Alaskan Brewing, and a helicopter tour to Mendenhall Glacier.

I was lucky enough to participate in the helicopter ride and glacier visit, put together by Alaskan Brewing. After a thrilling helicopter ride over old-growth forests and ragged mountains, where we saw mountain goats perched on the hillside, we descended to Mendenhall Glacier. Set up on the glacier were two Alaskan Brewing tents with beers, literally on ice, and small local bites including salmon roe, oysters, and smoked cod.

I heard great comments from participants including the following:

  • “I can’t think of a better way to start a food blogger conference.”
  • “If you aren’t impressed with this, I don’t think you will be impressed by anything.”
  • “This was the most amazing thing I have ever done in my life.”

These excursions are one of the huge benefits of changing locations most years, as the IFBC does. If you attended an excursion, please make sure to show your excursion organizer some love in your blog and social media. If you didn’t make it to Juneau next year, we are already planning great excursions for 2020 – to be announced on Saturday!

What Sets the IFBC Apart?

May 21, 2019 by Sarah Wohlner

Answer: Our Excursions!

Marc Wheeler, owner of Cappo cafe, using an apple press to press rhubarb for rhubarb sherbet in Juneau AK.

The International Food Blogger Conference offers an unparalleled opportunity for attendees to explore the unique locations we travel to each year. This year is no different.

The IFBC19 takes place in Juneau, Alaska and excursions will take place pre- and post- conference. They are open to all attendees and their family. These activities aim to explore each location by diving into the adventure and/or food scene of Juneau. Some are even tailored for our conference and provide opportunities for attendees to take photos and chat with the owners and chefs. This not only will satisfy the foodie in you but also help to curate unique content for your social media or blog followers. IFBC excursions will help maximize your trip so you can create lifelong memories in a matter of minutes.

Have you ever wondered how ice cream is made in a commercial scoop shop? How about learn to perfectly pair beer and seafood? What’s so special about a brewery in Alaska? *hint: a lot!* Have you ever explored Alaska’s glaciers by helicopter? If animals are more your style, before you suck down some fresh crab legs you can go whale watching or possibly see bald eagles, black bears, sea lions or more! Alaska is a fisherman’s dream, charter a boat and see if you can snag a halibut or salmon. There is no shortage to what Alaska or the International Food Blogger Conference can offer.

To make things even better, these excursions are offered at a discounted price, some even 60% off. We are one of the only food blogger conferences to offer these kind of opportunities, especially at these pries. A steal!

What’s on the schedule this year? Find our full itinerary of 2019 excursions here. We have limited spots remaining so don’t delay. See you there!

IFBC19 Juneau Excursions: Registration is Open

October 18, 2018 by Allan

Registration is now open for the Juneau pre-conference and post-conference excursions.

We understand traveling to any IFBC is a big commitment of time and money. We also understand if you travel to Alaska for a food blogger conference, you would like to see a little of the area and not just the inside of a conference room.

For our pre-conference excursions, we have focused on the local food and drink scene in Juneau with three optional excursions:

  • Juneau Food Tour
  • Alaska Brewing Company Tour
  • Juneau Bites & Booze Tour

For post-conference excursions, we are getting you into the beauty of the natural surroundings:

  • Whale Watching
  • Uncruise Adventures Ship Tour

In addition to these excursions, we will soon be providing discount opportunities on other local attractions, including a plane ride and salmon bake, so you can extend your vacation even more. All details are on our Excursions page. Registration is open only to conference attendees and their families or signifiant others.
