Call for Content & Speakers at the 2017 International Food Blogger Conference

February 21, 2017 by Allan

Speaker applications and content suggestions are now open for the 2017 International Food Blogger Conference and will remain open until March 13th. We are ready to hear from you to create an exceptional schedule and content sessions for next year. If you are an expert, have a story that needs to be told, and can impart some necessary wisdom upon our community, then we want to hear from you! For 2017, we are specifically seeking advanced content that will resonate with our many returning attendees.

CONTENT CATEGORIES

You will be asked to select from among the following content categories:

  • Blogging & Social Media: There are dozens of excellent potential topics involving blogging and social media. Keep in mind 2017 will be the ninth annual IFBC so we have covered many topics. Topics that will be most successful are those at an advanced level or are covering new ground.
  • Writing: Food writing is always a great topic and the secret is to come up with new or innovative ways to impart skills to the audience.
  • Business & Career: Many food bloggers wish to launch from their blog to a part-time or full-time career in consulting, events, or even wine making (or have already done so); and presentations helpful to those interested in business and careers can be proposed here.
  • Food Industry: These sessions will not include serving food but can include a wide range of topics, from current trends in the food world to innovative food marketing techniques to best practices for interviewing food industry leaders.

Please note this process does not include keynote speakers. Please contact us directly if you have suggestions about a keynote speaker. If you are interested in conducting a session that serves food, please contact reno@ZephyrConferences.com.

WHO SHOULD SUBMIT

Everyone is free to submit suggestions, whether you have attended the International Food Blogger Conference before or not. Please note we are not able to pay travel or hotel costs for speakers.

SCHEDULE

  • Open call for speakers – February 21 – March 13: We will accept proposals and suggestions.
  • Session review – March 14 – 17: We will review all content submissions. We do not have enough room to include all submissions, and so will make decisions on which are most applicable, combine similar sessions, and edit others as we deem appropriate.
  • Alumni voting – March 18 – 25: We will ask IFBC alumni and those currently registered to vote on submissions.
  • Content & Speaker Announcements – March 27: We will update the IFBC17 agenda and begin to contact speakers whose sessions will be included in the conference. Speakers must pay their own travel and hotel costs.

Submit Your Content now and please remember to Register for IFBC17, September 29 – October 1 in Sacramento, California. Early bird pricing remains available through March 31, 2017.

New IFBC Website and More Changes

February 20, 2017 by Allan

We are pleased to announce a number of new changes to the International Food Blogger Conference, most prominent of which is this new website.

The IFBC is now in its ninth season and we change things every year. But for 2017, we are making the following significant changes, all with the goal of presenting a better experience for our attendees, sponsors, and speakers.

  1. We have created this new website to provide the IFBC a distinct identity from Foodista.com, host of the previous site. Foodista.com is a large, complicated site and this new one will make it easier to highlight the IFBC.
  2. We finally activated our email RSS feed. People have been providing us their email for years without our RSS feed ever being implemented but now those of you on the list will receive an email each time we publish a news post. Join via the box to the right!
  3. We have a new, fantastic Advisory Board that will help us with content and speaker suggestions, securing local food providers, and just about anything else. Please check them out.
  4. We have launched two new social media accounts. You can now find the IFBC on Pinterest and Instagram. Be sure to follow us there! And for past IFBC attendees, as well as those registered for #IFBC17, don’t forget you can request to join our Facebook Group for conference updates, news and information.
  5. We are switching the content and speakers role from Foodista to fellow organizer Zephyr Conferences. Foodista has arranged the content and speakers from the beginning and we decided to try something new. Zephyr will use the same system it successfully uses in its other five conferences (public Call for Content this month followed by a vote by conference alumni of potential sessions).
  6. We are trying a new venue by holding #IFBC17 in the Sacramento Convention Center. One of the positives is that it allows us to find a very nice, low-cost host hotel which we couldn’t otherwise use since it doesn’t have meeting space.
  7. We have brought on food blogger and business owner Kristy Wenz to help with marketing and planning of the conference. You will all be hearing from Kristy in the coming months and can meet her in Sacramento!

We hope to see all of you in Sacramento!

Happy New Year food bloggers!

We are pleased to bring exciting news your way to kick off the New Year. We have confirmed the dates, location and hotel for this year’s 9th annual International Food Blogger Conference.

Dates: September 28 – October 1, 2017: Note these are the same dates as originally announced.

(Pre/Post Conference excursions planned for September 28th & October 1st)

Location: The Sacramento Convention Center

Hotel: A block of rooms at $129/night is available at the Residence Inn Sacramento Downtown at Capital Park

We tried very hard to change our dates to avoid the Jewish holidays, but found nothing available. Because securing a venue and confirming dates has taken much longer than anticipated, we want to offer you extended discount pricing (if you have already registered at a higher rate, you will be receiving a refund for the difference). Our new pricing schedule is as follows:

  • Now through March 31: $95 active bloggers, $395 non-bloggers
  • April 1 through June 30: $145 active bloggers, $445 non-bloggers
  • July 1 and later: $195 active bloggers, $495 non-bloggers

Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter feeds for more exciting announcements coming soon!
